Creativity and Science for Children

As part of our STEAM concept, Les Mousquetaires daycare offers an innovative educational activity that allows children to intuitively develop engineering skills. This activity is designed for children aged 1 to 3 and aims to stimulate their creativity, imagination, and practical problem-solving skills.

Construction Activity: Learning through Manipulation

Our teaching approach is based on giving children the freedom to decide how to use the materials provided. By manipulating everyday objects and modeling clay, children learn to assemble simple and complex structures. This develops their fine motor skills, their problem-solving skills (such as holding a structure together), and their creativity by inventing original shapes.

Encouraging Language and Imagination

We encourage children to describe their creations (castle, car, house, etc.) and to invent stories around them. This practice enriches their vocabulary and stimulates their imagination, while strengthening their language skills. This activity is aligned with our multilingual education program, which aims to develop children's language skills.

Key Activity Objectives

  • Exploring Science Concepts: Children discover the basic principles of engineering and physics by experimenting with different structures.

  • Fine Motor Skills Development: Precise manipulation of materials helps improve agility and coordination.

  • Creative Freedom: Children are free to explore and create according to their ideas, which encourages their creativity and critical thinking.

Fields of Action Covered

This activity covers two main areas:

  1. Aesthetics, Creativity and Art: Children express their creativity through the shapes and structures they invent.

  2. Science and Technology: Children learn scientific and technical concepts by solving practical problems.

Link with Multilingual Education

This activity is part of our multilingual education program, which aims to develop children's language skills. By describing their creations and inventing stories, children expand their vocabulary and improve their language skills in a natural and engaging way.

Educational Reflections and Conclusions

Through this STEAM-based activity, children intuitively develop engineering skills. They learn to design and build structures, solve practical problems, and manipulate materials. This stimulates the process of play, creative learning, and research. Children stimulate their creativity and imagination by inventing original shapes and structures.
