Transmitting Values to Children

Transmitting the Values of Respect and Tolerance to Children: A Commitment at the “Les Mousquetaires” Nursery

Cultural diversity in Luxembourg is an inestimable wealth. At the crèche les Mousquetaires, we firmly believe in the importance of instilling in children the values of respect, tolerance and citizenship from a very young age. This fundamental learning is built throughout life, and we are determined to guide our little musketeers along this path.

1. Be a Model

Children learn by imitation. It is therefore essential that parents, educators, and all relevant adults set an example by respecting each person's differences, whether cultural, social, or physical.

2. Promote Dialogue

Creating a climate of trust where children feel free to express their opinions, even if they differ from ours, is essential for their development.

3. Diversity Education

As part of our multilingual projects, the "Les Mousquetaires" nursery highlights different cultures through books, films, music, and cultural exchanges. We introduce children to the richness of the world's cultures while highlighting the commonalities that we all share.

4. Fight against stereotypes

We are committed to deconstructing stereotypes by providing concrete examples and encouraging curiosity in children.

Living Together at the “Les Mousquetaires” Nursery

The “Les Mousquetaires” nursery offers a variety of workshops to encourage the discovery and respect of cultural diversity:

  • Intercultural Projects: Organization of events promoting the cultural diversity of children. Parents are invited to participate in culinary workshops and share elements of their culture.

  • Promotion of Cultural Diversity: Use of games, displays (Asian dolls, books in German, etc.), and decorative elements from various cultures to create an enriching environment.

  • Thematic Workshops: Workshops around cooking, music, or plastic arts to discover the traditions of different countries.

  • Human Rights Awareness: Fun explanations of the importance of respecting everyone's rights through role-playing games.

  • Promoting Different Languages: Displaying simple words and phrases in multiple languages, singing nursery rhymes in different languages, and exchanging sweet words between parents and children.

  • Cultural Celebrations: Holidays such as Christmas, Hanukkah, and Ramadan, to allow children to discover new traditions and share festive moments.

Examples of Multicultural and Multilingual Projects at the Crèche Les Mousquetaires:

  • Organization of a snack where each child brings a typical dish from their family.

  • Creation of a table of the different languages spoken by children and their families.

  • Reading stories about characters from different cultures.

  • Workshop for making masks representing animals or characters, musical instruments, and monuments from various countries.

  • Invite storytellers or musicians from different cultures.

  • Dances and music from different countries to celebrate diversity.
